This course is intended for the child(ren). Parents can drop off and pick up after class. There are some worksheets to do at home as well.

The Staying Home Alone Program is designed to prepare children 9 years of age and older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied.
The program focuses on small group discussions, problem solving, role-playing, and instructor-led demonstrations.
The course material covers such topics as:
Establishing a routine
House Key is your responsibility
Strangers
Telephone
Emergencies
Basic First Aid
Internet Safety
Target ages: 9-11 (mature 8 year olds can attend. Ages 12+ are permitted into the Babysitters Course as well, which may be more suited to children of that age and covers all this info + more!)
Time: 2-4pm
Bring: Snacks are allowed if wanted during break (vending machine available as well), Indoor footwear/Socks/Slippers (no outdoor shoes or bare feet permitted in the classroom)
Cost: $30+GST
Note: THIS IS A PREPARATORY SAFETY COURSE. PARENTS SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK WITH THEIR LOCAL CHILD FAMILY SERVICES BEFORE ALLOWING THEIR CHILD TO STAY HOME ALONE.
