Papercutting is a meditative, expressive, and culturally rich art form practiced around the world for centuries. In this hands-on, 3-hour workshop, participants will explore basic techniques of papercutting and will create their first small papercutting piece to take home (templates will be provided). We’ll begin with an introduction to the global history of the art form, focusing on cultural styles such as Swiss Scherenschnitt, Chinese jianzhi, and Mexican papel picado, before diving into basic papercutting skills using a blade. This workshop is suitable for beginners!
